Abstract

This study examines the intricate relationship between the posture of junior college teachers and its consequential impact on neck pain focusing primarily on educators in Mumbai city and Thane district, the study aims to assess the problem of neck pain experienced by junior college teachers with specific objectives: (i) analyze the demographic profile of junior college teachers, (ii) assess the prevalence and severity of neck pain among them, (iii) explore the association between teaching duration and neck pain symptoms, and (iv) propose actionable recommendations for ergonomic interventions to revolutionize occupational health concerns in junior colleges. 200 educators were selected randomly sample with a minimum of one year of teaching experience. Various data collection techniques include observation, surveys through self-constructed questionnaires, structured one-on-one interviews, and utilization of ergonomic assessment tools such as the Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire helped to gather insights into the posture and associated discomfort experienced by junior college teachers. There is a critical need for research on neck pain among junior college teachers in Mumbai and Thane, as existing studies overlook the unique challenges faced by educators in this region. This study aims to fill this gap, offering targeted insights and interventions to improve their well-being and professional effectiveness. Recommendations are foreseen to serve as a cornerstone for nurturing a healthier and more supportive teaching environment. Eventually, the research aspires to make a positive impact on the well-being of educators by offering tangible strategies to enhance their posture and overall health, thereby fostering a more supportive teaching environment.
